COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

In 2022, A2CNS performed the structural concrete work on the 222 Mitchell Street Redevelopment Project. The building at 222 Mitchell, which takes up a city block in South Downtown, combines a brick building dating to 1909 and two mid-century modern buildings. Formerly home to Citizens & Southern Bank, the property offers rooftop views of Downtown and eventually will include office space, a park, retail and restaurants. Our scope of work included upper-level deck pours, one-sided basement level wall construction, exterior retaining walls in excess of 18 vertical feet, construction of supporting spread footings for new additions, and other various aspects of the concrete division.

Our scope of work on the new Conyers City Hall Building included cast-in-place concrete walls on the lower area to establish a parking deck beneath the building, upper deck COMD pours, multiple decorative features including exposed aggregate entrance and sidewalks, substantial spread footings for structural components, as well as additional concrete across the span of the project. This project was completed in 2019.

We were proud to be selected to perform the hardscape reconstruction and structural foundations for the Kessler Campanile Plaza and Fountain. This has long served as an iconic landmark on the Georgia Tech campus. Our scope or work included all subterraneous foundations, beveled and depressed cast-in-place walls, hydro power pump vault, and surrounding plaza hardscapes. This landmark and the surrounding plaza and fountain, was reconfigured as part of the Campus Center construction and renovation project. The most notable change is the design of the fountain at the base of the 80-foot obelisk. We completed this project in 2022.

We provided the full concrete scope completion for the addition and renovations to Emma Hutchinson Elementary School for Atlanta Public Schools. The project included the demolition, new construction and upgrades to the existing facility. The construction included an 850 square foot entry that has been designed within the footprint of the existing canopy roof and is tied to the underside of the roof slab with re-design cast-in-place stairs and pre-cast treads. The renovations included new concrete stairs on grade; a new concrete retaining wall with fully ADA accessible ramp at the new stair; new concrete pit walls and walls at the elevator; new interior CIP walls; and walls for additional new openings. This project was completed 2021.

We were excited to be chosen as the concrete contractor to aid in the task of transforming The Dwarf House® restaurant in Hapeville, Ga.— where Truett Cathy created, tested and ultimately perfected the Original Chick-fil-A® Chicken Sandwich. The iconic facility has undergone extensive transformation that pays homage to the restaurant’s storied history while creating a larger space for future customers, more than twice the capacity of the original location. We performed all structural, site, and decorative concrete scopes on the project. It was started in April 2021 and re-opened in February 2022.

In 2020, A2CNS was hired to perform the concrete division of the Lobby Relocation on the iconic Building 1 of AmericasMart. Founded in 1957 by world-renowned architect and developer John C. Portman, Jr., AmericasMart began life as The Atlanta Merchandise Mart, first staged in Atlanta’s Belle Isle Building. In 1961, the first dedicated building – now known as Building 1 – opened and laid the foundation for what is now a fully integrated three-building campus spanning more than 7 million square feet. Our scope of work consisted of multiple pours of lightweight and normal weight concrete, extensive steel and formwork, foam construction and elevation of ground floor to +/-10’ above the ground level, as well as many other challenging features.  

We have completed multiple locations and were the first concrete contractor in Georgia to construct a car wash using the ExtruTech Wall Panel System. Our scope included all foundations, slab, mechanical pits, wall system, and all site work. FastTrac is a provider of car washing services based in Marietta, Georgia.
